Bakers Attend IBA Convention

The "Illinois Broadcasters Association" held their annual convention with their 2010 awards banquet this past week. Bakers Marketing Group has provided the awards for the IBA for going on 20 years.
The convention features awards in 3 divisions - markets: Large, Medium and Small. The awards range from the best "humorous" in-house commercial (in both radio and TV) to coverage of some of the most devastating problems that have happened in the state.
Miss Illinois presented the awards after each announcement in front of Nascar Driver, Dale Earnhardt, Jr's car.
Surpprises included a non-programmed stop through of an IL Governor Candidate, Bill Brady and his running mate Jason Plummer who had been in the area during the day. An even bigger surprise was Florida Governor Jeb Bush who was in to help Brady rise from State Senator to Governor.
Yours truly, JFREDB, was a winner of one of the Nascar model cars which were table favors.
I have been to conventions of other associations where the awards dragged on and on. This convention was one of the best run that I have seen - announcing 70+ awards, distributing them, getting pictures of the winners AND getting it all done in the space of one hour and fifteen minutes. KUDOs go to the IBA staff for their organization and a great convention.
We are very proud to be a part of this great group and to have had them as a client for all these years.

Baker Designs IBA Award for Charles Gibson
Charles Gibson of ABC World News was selected by the Illinois Broadcasters Association, as the 2007 "Hall of Fame" Inductee. Gibson was raised in Evanston, Illinois.
Pictured with Charles Gibson are Barb and Fred Baker. The IBA asked Fred Baker to design the award which he is shown holding. The award is a crystal block with four levels of internal laser engraving. Baker, also, included a lighted base to hi-light the levels when the award is on display.
The award was presented to Charles Gibson at an IBA dinner honoring him in downtown Chicago in mid-February.
A side-light to the award is that Gibson got snowed in at O'Hare field on his way back to New York, and he was forced to do his news show from O'Hare during the snow-in and flight cancellations that week. "Like the pro he is, everything went off smooth," said Baker.
