Baker attended the University of Illinois.

Baker started his business career with IBM Corporation.

While with IBM, he pursued Business Law courses at Roosevelt University in downtown Chicago.

He left IBM and started the Specialty Advertising (Imprinted Products) business in 1965.

In 1980, (after installing computers in his offices in 1978) he wrote some marketing programs and added those to the services he provided at the time.

In 1982, he added Trade Show Displays to his list of services.

Over that time - from the early 70's he provided special services to clients; such as, Grand Openings, Anniversary Celebrations, Trade Show Promotions, Safety Programs for Plants.   He has provided special consulting services for candidates for public office since the late 60's. For those special occasions, he designed and produced logos and special designs plus ads in print, broadcast and other media.

He changed the name of his company to a d/b/a of Bakers Marketing Group In 1995 which encompasses all the special services which he makes available to clients.

The slogan he adopted at the time and still maintains is:

The name of the book is: "Marketing - It isn't just Kool-Aid and Cookies".

It is in it's 3rd Edition.

Chris was graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism.

She was employed in newspaper marketing management for over 30 years with The Beacon-News and its Copley Newspaper/Sun-Times Media sister publications: The Herald News, Joliet, The Courier-News, Elgin,The Naperville Sun and The Waukegan News-Sun.

Her newspaper work experience included marketing, promotions, community relations, event planning, product development and sales support.

Chris has been actively involved in the Aurora volunteer community for years.  She currently serves on the boards of the Paramount Theatre (Aurora Civic Center Authority), the Aurora Area Convention and Tourism Bureau, The Compassion Foundation, the Inc. Board, a local mental health funding alliance and the Exchange Club of Aurora, where she is also a long-time member.

Other past volunteer affiliations include Presence Mercy Medical Center, Mutual Ground, Inc., the Greater Aurora Regional Chamber of Commerce, and Fox Valley United Way.

Chris resides in Aurora, and is a native of the city, but grew up and attended schools in Hinckley.
